101 number one song of the day was a big hit for a very little person. That would become a major point of controversy.  Margaret Battavio was born in Lansdale Pennsylvania just 15 years, one month and 13 days before her song reached number one. She remembers being at home doing the dishes and listening to New York’s WABC radio’s nightly countdown when she heard the record you’re about to hear landed at the top. She and her family were ecstatic. However, one thing that Margaret was NOT terribly pleased about was the name the record company execs gave her. It wasn’t the new last name on the record label that bothered her. But at 4’10” tall she was very sensitive about her height but they insisted that she be called “little” – here’s the biggest song in America on April 27th 1963 for Little Peggy March and the song is “I Will Follow Him.”

Other Stuff:

We’re so worried about the cost of gasoline going up for over 30 consecutive days…nobody noticed the cost of coffee skyrocketing, too. In fact, on the commodities market, the price of coffee hit a 34-year high this week – at three dollars a pound. Experts say that equates to about fifty-cents a pound in the stores.

This Sunday is the first ever International Barefoot Running Day. The Barefoot Runners Society says running without shoes is the hottest new trend in sports. Some say they can run without effort for the first time once they ditch the Nikes. Others say they experience a connection with the earth that they’ve never felt before.
