National Women Road Warrior Day

road warrior - woman

to honor the nation’s travelling business women.

It’s also Gibberish Day.

Gibberish

It has been suggested that there’s a certain amount of gibberish on Your Morning Show every day.

Congratulations to today’s Birthday Party Winner – Debra Baca who won a $100 gift certificate from Wright Jewelers, 1300 El Paseo Road.

The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by a young Fargo, ND guitarist named Robert Velline who more than anyone else had his life changed the “Day the Music Died.”   When he was 15, he woke up one morning looking forward to his first rock and roll show ever. That night he would see some of the greatest rock stars in the world: Dion and the Belmonts, the Big Bopper, Richie Valens and his idol Buddy Holly. By noon of that day he heard the terrible news of the plane crash that took the lives of three of those beloved musicians. The local radio station put out a call for replacements and Robert volunteered his newly formed group. They were put on bill and became a hit. That lead to a recording contract and his life took a turn that Hollywood movies are made of. And on September 20th 1961 Robert – by this time a star in his own right – had the number one song in America – with a shortened version of his name – Bobby Vee – “Take Good Care of My Baby” (written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King)

Other stuff:

Real estate sales are not only down here in Las Cruces and the U. S. in general but also around the world.  And this just makes an agent’s job that much harder – a man was showing a million dollar home in England…and told the prospective buyers to be quiet in one room where the owner was sleeping on the couch. Later, the agent returned to the home to report on the visit…and discovered the owner was actually dead on the couch.

-We don’t know about England…but over here it’s considered bad luck to buy a house with a dead person in it.

The Army has changed basic training to handle more fat, out-of-shape recruits. They’re doing away with sit-ups and long runs…and adding exercises like pilates and yoga to help overweight recruits get into fighting shape. One drill sergeant admitted today’s average recruit can’t do a sit-up…or a chin-up.

YOGA

Now when the drill instructor tells you to drop and give him fifty…he means downward facing dogs… That’s not right.

And speaking of out-of-shape and overweight…with reality shows like Biggest Loser and more overweight actors on scripted shows – experts are worried the country is glamorizing the overweight. They say the focus on overweight characters may further the nation’s obesity problems.

Biggest Loser

A lot of people watch Biggest Loser to be inspired. We watch it and think…’We’re not that big yet…’

In Everett, Washington, an 18-year old woman is accused of stabbing a 19-year old man – after he teased her that her feet stunk. She told police she had been drinking with friends and they challenged her to do a back-flip. When she took her shoes off, the man started teasing her about the smell. So she buried a steak knife a few inches into his back. When police arrived, the knife was still sticking out of the man’s back. His lung collapsed – but he is recovering.

if he had said something about how big her butt was…they’d  probably still be picking up pieces of him…
