Today is also Smile Power Day. Smiles are infectious. Look at this one -
The 101 Number One song of the Day was the first American chart topper to be sung in a foreign language. But the title was so unpronounceable that a new one was made up that had nothing to do with the song itself. The original title roughly translates to “I Look Up When I Walk” but since the language was not one that western audiences could handle very well, the record company simply took the one word from that language that would be instantly recognizable. As Newsweek Magazine pointed out, it was like releasing “Moon River” in Japan and calling it “Beef Stew.” Regardless, it arrived at number one in America on June 15, 1963 for Kyu Sakamoto – “Sukiyaki”
Other stuff:
A guy in Omaha was showing off his pet snake to his new girlfriend – when the nine-foot long python wrapped around his neck and strangled him. The local head of the herpetological society said he broke one of the cardinal rules of snake handling – never wrap a snake around your neck.
Other cardinal rules dealing with animals…never put a porcupine in your underpants.
-And never play leap-frog with a rhinoceros.
Congratulations to a ten-year old boy on Long Island, New York - Jack Singer set the world record for wearing 215 pairs of underpants at one time. Jack, of Warwick, wanted to do something really special for his 10th birthday, so during his party Sunday, he set out to break the Guinness World Record of most underwear worn. His parents put on the tighty whiteys, layer after layer. He stood up as long as he could before his feet fell asleep. He made it to 190 pairs until he had to sit down. Then 25 more pairs went on, beating the previous record of 200. “I feel the most excited in my life,” he said.
-You know those teenagers that try to sail around the world unassisted- or climb Mt. Everest? This is how they get started.
