Tasmanian Devil Week begins today…

…More Tasmanian devils are born this week than any other week of the year.

The Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) is a carnivorous marsupial now found in the wild only in the Australian island state of Tasmania. This is how they actually look-

The Tasmanian devil is the only extant member of the genus Sarcophilus The size of a small dog, but stocky and muscular, the Tasmanian devil is now the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world after the extinction of the thylacine in 1936. It is characterized by its black fur, pungent odour when stressed, extremely loud and disturbing screech, and ferocity when feeding. It is known to both hunt prey and scavenge carrion and although it is usually solitary, it sometimes eats with other devils.

An 83-year old Indian holy man claims he hasn’t had food or liquid in seven decades.

So Indian doctors put him to the test – locking him in a hospital room under constant watch for two weeks. They observed him around the clock…and said he didn’t eat or drink anything. Their professional assessment – they don’t know how he’s alive. -I know most people don’t like hospital food….but come on!!!

The June issue of Playboy comes out this week…and it includes a 3-D centerfold. The issue comes complete with a pair of 3-D glasses. Hugh Hefner admits he’s capitalizing on the 3-D fad sweeping the country – even though he doesn’t get what all the fuss is about. When he was asked what people would see with the glasses – he answered, ‘Probably a naked lady’. -Could be quite a shock – considering the centerfolds are usually in double-D, er, 2-D.

Here’s a new growing trend in the US – called ‘gigonomics’. Rather that just working one career – a growing number of Americans are lining up odd jobs and projects and then jumping from project to project to earn a living. They say you have to be organized to juggle a lot of different jobs – and there could be dead spots on your calendar. But for people who are organized and hard working…it can be very rewarding. We have a hard enough time juggling one job.

There’s a new list out…the richest kids on TV. Angus T. Jones of Two and a Half Men earns $250,000 an episode.

He’s far and away the richest kid on the tube, and he’s only 16. Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly makes $180,000 an episode. Miley Cyrus…earns a paltry $15,000 an episode for Hannah Montana. But when she IS Hannah Montana, she makes a lot more.
