…a day to ignore all those warnings and actually enjoy yourself.
Is it this?
Or this?
Or this?
It’s also Blow Bubbles For Your Cat Day. Cats need a change of pace just like humans.
And it’s Ladies Who Don't Swear Appreciation Day.
Pete Domineci, Jr. would like to swear an oath to serve as Governor of New Mexico and he spoke with us this morning on 101 Gold.
First he has to get past this woman – Dona Ana County DA Susana Martinez –
They are squaring off in the Primaries on June 1st vying for the Republican nomination. You can listen to the conversation – here
On another subject altogether – a woman in Albuquerque is being sued for smoking in her own backyard by another neighbor who is represented by the Domineci Law Firm. You can check that story out here: http://www.koat.com/news/23513247/detail.html
The 101 Number One Song of the Day is about a teacher who returned to the High School he attended as a teenager and the writer who was especially hired for the project found it to be a somewhat difficult challenge. It was written for a TV series which would launch the career of a man who would become an international superstar*. (That’s John Travolta* on the left)
Since it was originally just a TV theme song it lasted less than 60 seconds. But it became so popular that a second verse was later added so it could be released as a single. The tough part about writing the song, however, revolved around the show’s name. The writer couldn’t find anything to rhyme with it so eventually just omitted the name of the character altogether. Well, actually, he could think of one word to rhyme with the name but couldn’t think of a way to include the word “otter” into the song. It was number one on May 11th, 1976 for John Sebastian – the show’s name – “Welcome Back Kotter”
The Red Light Camera located at N. Main & Solano in Las Cruces (where McKay got nabbed a while back) will be disconnected at midnight on May 12, 2010. This a result from a decision of the NMDOT to remove all red light cameras around the state that are located on state highways. This also means that the one located on Valley Drive & Avenida de Mesilla must also come down. However the city is still trying to negotiate with the NMDOT.
Everyone seems to be very excited about the new Olive Garden here in Las Cruces. Folks were lined up the other day when it opened.
When you watch those Olive Garden commercials on TV –d o you ever wonder if there’s really a Culinary Institute in Tuscany? It turns out – there is. One hundred of the best performing chefs and managers are invited to the Institute every winter for eleven weeks to share cooking secrets and come up with new recipe ideas. The rest of the year – the building is actually a bed and breakfast in Italy’s wine country. -And even stranger…there’s actually a Jack at Jack in the Box…
The Miss USA contestants are in Las Vegas for this year’s pageant. It’s on TV this weekend. Along with evening wear and swimsuits…this year’s contestants were also photographed in lingerie. They wore lacy lingerie, fish-net stockings and knee-high boots for the photo shoot. A couple even posed topless. The pageant organizers said they wanted to get away from the image of the ‘pageant princess’ and show smart, sexy and sophisticated modern women. Apparently instead of Miss Congeniality…they now have Miss Cleavage.
It’s all relative of course. Here’s what was considered pretty racy back in the 1920s –
Remember – another round of Swap or Stop today at 4:15 and we’ll have a question about the SEC
