The 101 number one song of the day made the biggest one week jump on Billboard’s Hot 100 of any single in history. It entered the chart at #81 and the next week was #7. This 74 point leap has never been equaled.
It was so popular it was not only made into a movie but also a weekly TV show. It was based on actual confrontation between a young mother and public officials in a small town and it became such a big hit that they made a movie ten years later starring Barbara Eden which eventually became a weekly TV show. The song was written by Tom T.Hall who had been peddling songs in Nashville for nearly 10 years with very little success. It made his career and launched the career of an unknown singer from Anson, TX. It was number one on September 22, 1968 and the singer’s only pop hit but she wanted to be a country star anyway…Jeannie C. Riley (Harper Valley PTA)
A photographer named Malcolm Brenner has published a book detailing his steamy, 9-month affair with a DOLPHIN in 1970. The book is called "Wet Goddess."
Wet goddess is one man’s encounter with dolphins, based on a true story. Ruby is especially important in this book – Zach ends up thinking he is becoming seduced by her, and perhaps because of that, actually does. The book is about Zach and Ruby’s relationship and their forbidden love. Malcolm claims he was seduced. Listen dolphin lover
The FOX News website has an on-line poll – if NASA’s satellite fell in your back yard – would you keep it, or return it to the government. Only 22% said they’d return the satellite. Over 51% said ‘finders-keepers’ – and 22% said maybe they’d return it – but how would the government know you had it?

And finally, West Virginia police have arrested a woman accused of stealing a hearse from a funeral home while there was a body inside. Beckley City Police said the hearse driver parked the 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood outside of the funeral home at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday. He left the door ajar while attempting to gain access to the funeral home. Police said that’s when Angela Jeanette Dehart, 23, climbed into the vehicle, drove it to Beaver, West Virginia, and abandoned it to walk the rest of the way to her residence. Police returned the hearse and its contents to the funeral home within four hours of the theft. Investigators said the corpse had been damaged, likely due to reckless driving following the theft. Dehart told police she took the vehicle to drive home because she was unfamiliar with the area. She is facing charges of grand larceny and displacement of a dead body.
It’s a crazy world!
