This is our current VP. How many can you remember? We talked about this one just the other day -
It’s also Flip flop Day – not in a political way. We mean these -
We think of them as shoe convertibles.
History 101: 1972: Five men carrying electronic surveillance equipment were arrested in the Watergate office headquarters of the Democratic Party National Committee.
The arrest eventually led to the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon.
The intruders were caught by janitor Frank Wills.
Music History 101: 1933: A young sharecropper, named Vernon, who hailed from Fulton, Mississippi, and Gladys Love Smith, a seamstress from Pontotoc County, Mississippi, were married. Less than two years later, they had twin boys, but the first, Jesse Garon, was still born. The second, Elvis Aaron, was okay and, in fact, did quite well.
The 101 number one song of the day was produced and recorded by an Anglo American band that was immersed in tremendous upheaval. Just when personal relationships were disintegrating, the group came together to achieve its greatest commercial success.
The album which spawned today’s featured song was number one for 31 weeks. The band was formed in 1967 but had undergone many personnel changes over close to a decade. The keyboard player was separating from her husband – the bass player; the drummer was being divorced from another woman he would later remarry and the lead guitarist was breaking up with the lead singer after an eight year relationship. Despite all this turmoil they scored their only number one single this week in June, 1977 – Fleetwood Mac “Dreams”
