Music History - June 28th, 1969, David Crosby, Stephen Stills & Graham Nash released their first album entitled: Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Side One, Cut 2 was this: Marrakesh Express

Crosby, Stills & Nash

Before today’s 101 number one song of the day there was rock music and there was folk music but after its release a whole new genre was created that influenced and spawned a generation of musicians and supergroup…

…which included Crosby, Stills and Nash; the Eagles, the Flying Burrito Brothers and more. The impetus for the change was electrifying a Bob Dylan song with a 12 string Rickenback guitar. Jim McGuinn was inspired to get his first electric 12 string after he saw George Harrison play one in A Hard Day’s Night. McGuinn formed a group with friends Gene Clark, David Crosby and others. Oddly enough, the only member of the group you’re about to hear that actually recorded today’s featured song was McGuinn because of a lack of studio time. Producer Terry Melcher – son of actress Doris Day – hired the best studio musicians of the day which included Glen Campbell and Leon Russell in order to hasten the process. The result was the first folk rock song and a number one song for a new group which was number one on June 28, 1965 for the Byrds “Mr Tambourine Man.

This song can make you a winner today of $30 for Corn Dogs Plus. Listen and win! When you hear it today call 527 1011 and # 10 wins.
