History 101: 1945: in the Fuehrerbunker -- Adolf Hitler married his long-time partner Eva Braun. Their union would not last long – they did themselves in the next day.
Weird, isn’t it, that this famous couple would choose the same date to get married-

The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by a one time back up band that got fed up with playing a one hit wonder’s one hit once too often.
Joey Dee who hit it big in the early 60s in NYC’s Peppermint Lounge with the Peppermint Twist decided to open his own club, the Starlighter Lounge. He gathered around him a group of talented musicians who became his house band. It was a good gig at first but frustration soon ensued since they’d be expected to do Joey’s main claim to fame each night…sometimes several times. They thought they had what it took to make it on their own and when their act was caught by Sid Bernstein – the promoter who brought the Beatles to Shea Stadium – he signed on to be their manager. Their second release went all the way to the top and it arrived at number one this week in 1966 and it’s today’s 101 number one song of the day – for the Rascals (Good Lovin’)
