A Conversation with former Governor Gary Johnson

Although he looks pretty cute, this photo doesn’t really do him justice.  He’s a very handsome specimen, extremely well behaved and would make someone a fantastic friend.   You can see him at 3551 Bataan Memorial West.  The Center opens each day at Noon.

Music History 101: October 22, 1960, Ernest Evans appeared on Ed Sullivan show to sing a song about a dance that was sweeping the country.  The song would be a number one hit in 1960 and all over again in 1961.  By this time Ernest had changed his name to Chubby Checker and in no time at all, the Twist was being danced by kids, their parents and even their grandparents!

The 101 number one song of the day was a solo recording but a group got the credit. It was written by one person but two got credit for that. It is the first of over 2500 cover versions which is a Guiness record.  The writer said “I just fell out of bed and it was there.” He thought he must have heard it somewhere and he spent about three weeks asking all the music people he knew if they’d heard it before. No one had. At the time, it was just a tune with no words and he called it scrambled egg. He was the only member of his group in the studio when it was recorded. He sang it and played acoustic guitar and was backed by a string quartet. But the label said it was the Beatles and the writers credited – as always – Lennon/McCartney. But it was all Paul. And it was number one in America on October 24, 1965 – “Yesterday”

101 Gold Nugget of Knowledge: An executive with The Washington State Potato Commission is halfway through his vow to eat nothing but potatoes for 60 days. Chris Voigt eats nothing but potatoes…and those come with no toppings or sides. He eats 20 potatoes a day to meet his caloric intake needs. He said he wants to prove the potato is so healthy – you can live off them.

Brazilian super model Adriana Lima is sporting Victoria’s Secret’s ‘Bombshell Fantasy Bra’ for their Christmas catalog. It’s a two-million dollar diamond encrusted bra set in 18-karat white gold. She will also show off the bra during the store’s Christmas Fashion Show on CBS November 30^th.

…nothing says Christmas…nothing says ‘peace on earth and goodwill toward men…like a super model in a two-million dollar push-up bra.
