Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day

desktop

Interesting, the organizers say there are one-billion computers in the world today…and each one has an average of ten unused icons on their desktop.

-Not unlike the ten keys on your key chain…you have no idea what they go to.

Las Cruces Director of Information, Udell Vigil was in this morning.

Music History 101: 1957 – A band known as the Quarry Men played a gig in Norris Green, Liverpool with a new member – his name - Paul McCartney.

The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by a band headed by a South African jazz pianist named Michael Lubowitz. It was written by the same people who wrote Da Doo Ron Ron and it makes about as much sense.  They were the duo of Jeff Barry and Ellie Greewich. Lubowitz moved from South Africa to Britain after studying at Vienna State Academy and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He took his formal training and started to Rock and Roll and the song you’re about to hear was number one on October 18, 1964. By this time his name and the name of the band were one and the same: Manfred Mann (Do Wah Diddy Diddy)

Other stuff:

Air New Zealand is planning a new ‘cuddle class’ seating opportunity for long flights. Three seats across form a ‘sky couch’ where couples can cuddle and relax together. The charge for a cuddle seat will be regular price for two seats…and half price for the third. The seating will only be on long over-seas flights.

-I don’t know about you…but on the flights I’m already on…I feel like I’m ‘spooning’ with the guy seated in front of me.

Oregon police pulled over an 82-year old woman for speeding near the town of Gresham. Yeah – she was dosing 110-miles an hour in a 55 zone. She told the police she was later for an appointment…and didn’t realize she was going that fast. She received a $1103 ticket.

The small town of Felton, California, held its annual Bigfoot Discovery Day on Saturday, but the guest of honor failed to show up, again, organizers said. Staged by the Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers and the Bigfoot Discovery Project, the event has been held every year since 2006. About 50 people attended the outdoor lunch and meeting to hear of purported Bigfoot sightings and examine evidence.

A Bradenton, Florida, man arrested Friday thanked officers for finding his bong during a vehicle search; he thought he had lost it seven years ago. Police say a car driven by Mark Fiasco came up on a computer check as being previously involved in a drug case. He was pulled over around midnight. Deputies searched the car and found about an ounce of marijuana in the trunk and a bong inside a plastic shopping bag. Fiasco told deputies he had been looking for the $150 bong for seven years and assumed a roommate had stolen it. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to use and failure to change an address on a license.

BTW, take the 101 Gold poll: is it time to legalize mariuana – or not?

Las Cruces will have it’s hands full next year for the Whole Enchilada Fiesta: A suburb of Mexico City is now in the record books for cooking up the world’s largest enchilada. Residents of Iztapalapa built the 230-foot-long, 1 1/2-ton enchilada yesterday. Guinness record official Ralph Hannah announced that it was the world’s biggest. The colossal creation was made of corn tortillas, white onions, serrano chilis, green tomatoes, avocado, cheese, cream and a sea of salsas, among other ingredients.
