Be Bald and Be Beautiful Day

It’s a day to go shiny and be proud.  Here’s KC after she lost a bet with Mike several years ago -

Today is also National Frump Day, honoring frugal, responsible, unpretentious, mature people everywhere.  Not to be confused with the Ruth Buzzi character:

Music History 101: 1955: The billybop duo Buddy & Bob opened for Bill Haley and The Comets at Lubbock’s Cotton Club. The following night the schoolmates opened for Elvis Presley. The “Buddy” was none other than Buddy Holly.  The picture below is of Buddy and Bob.  You might recognize Buddy on the left…we think that’s Bob on the right.  Who’s in the middle is anybody’s guess.

The harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel, the Beach boys, the Mamas and the Papas and even the Beatles can be traced to one source and it’s the same source that gave us today’s 101 number one song of the day.  They were two brothers who were barely out of diapers when they began performing on the radio in Shenadoah, Iowa. They’d get up early each morning to go on at six o’clock. Then they’d go to school. When they were old enough they headed to Nashville where they eventually got a record contract for a four side deal. Their second recording was thought to be a bit suggestive and some radio stations even banned it. But that didn’t keep it from reaching number one on October 14, 1957 for the Everly Bros. (Wake up Little Susie)
