In case you missed the “Sam-Cam” this morning on KVLC-TV, here’s a look at Sammy who came to Casa McKay via the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.  He spent the day with us.

History 101: 1969 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band made their live debut at the Rock 'n' Roll Revival Concert. There were 12 whole minutes of Yoko.

The 101 number one song of the day was written in response to a United States Supreme Court ruling from 1954. 18 years later it became a hit.  The song was first recorded by Sammy Davis, Jr. in the late 50s and in 1971 a Jamaican Reggae group called “Greyhound” did a version of it. The group that took it to number one heard the Greyhound single on a Dutch radio station while they were touring Europe. They condensed the words somewhat and the verse, “Their robes were black/Their heads were white/The school house doors were closed so tight/Nine judges all set down their names/To end the years and years of shame.” The high court decision which the song commemorates banned segregation in public schools and the song which was number one this week in 1972 belonged to Three Dog Night (Black and White)

Jerry Springer celebrates his TV show’s 20th anniversary today. TV Guide once listed The Jerry Springer Show as the worst TV show ever!! But Springer said it was never meant to be high-brow entertainment. It’s a niche show with a loyal audience.

-We find the Springer Show very therapeutic. When you get to the point you think your life sucks…watch the Jerry Springer Show. No – their lives suck!!

Last week, the world’s number one ranked eater, Joey Chestnut, was beaten by tiny Sonya Thomas in the world Chicken Wing Eating Championships. But he bounced back… Chestnut won the World Burrito Eating Championship at the New Mexico State Fair over the weekend. Chestnut at 47 burritos in ten minutes…and took home the $1,500 first place prize.

-Which he quickly blew on a truck load of Alka Seltzer…

ABC News interviewed the Vatican’s chief exorcist – 85-year old Rev. Gabriel Amoth. He says he’s treated over 70,000 cases of demonic possession in his career. And interestingly enough, he says his favorite movie is actually – The Exorcist. But he says real possessed people don’t vomit green soup. He says sometimes they throw up tiny pieces of metal. He keeps a pouch of vomited metal shavings on his belt, to remind him about his work.

If the guy’s been doing this for 60 years…that comes out to three a day!!! Would you really need to keep souvenirs to remind you that you’re fighting the devil three to five times a day?!?!

Interesting story on Yahoo Health things you probably didn’t know about your dreams. For example, you dream several times a night…with the first one lasting only about five minutes – while your last dream of the night can go on for up to an hour. The most common dream is of your spouse cheating. If you wake up in the middle of a dream…and close your eyes and not move…you can resume the same dream. And experts say if you have a consistent recurring dream – that’s your mind’s way of trying to get a message to you.

-That message being…apparently…if you go back to school…wear pants!!!
