Harley is a miniature pinscher and about 5 years old.  He can be adopted at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.  He’d make someone a very good companion.  Why not consider it.  Perhaps you know of someone else who could give Harley a good home.

In addition to the Whole Enchilada Fiesta this weekend in Las Cruces, the Rio Grande Theatre is celebrating the 5th anniversary of the grand re-opening this Sunday from 4-7

Music History 101: 9-24-1988: This “hard working” entertainer put the pedal to the metal and led police on a two state chase through South Carolina and Georgia. They caught him and arrested him and he went from being hard workin’ to doin’ hard time - James Brown

Most of us know that Paul McCartney lost a bidding war to Michael Jackson for the rights to Beatles music but he was successful in purchasing the publishing rights to the music of the creator of today’s 101 number one song of the day – and a lot of that music was created right here in New Mexico.  Today’s featured artist started taking piano lessons at 11 but within a year, he got hooked on the guitar. The song you’re about to hear was produced by Norman Petty and much of the singer’s subsequent music was recorded at Petty’s studios in Clovis. Later, Paul McCartney would buy both the studios and the music to ensure that the memory of the man who was at number one on September 24, 1957 would live on – Buddy Holly (That’ll Be The Day)
