Today is Stop and Smell Your Compost Pile Day

a time to snort away the winter blahs and think about spring.  Of course, around here when we think of spring we think -

history 101 2

1951: The movie "Bedtime for Bonzo" premiered in Indianapolis. It starred Ronald Reagan as a monkey’s father.

1969: Vickie Jones was arrested in Florida for impersonation during a paid concert. She was so convincing, no one asked for a refund. She claimed to be Aretha Franklin.

Franklin, Aretha

The

was sung by “the best girl singer in the world” according to Peter Asher – one half of the duo Peter & Gordon.  In the course of her career she’s sung country, folk, R&B, pop and even opera. She took a big risk tackling the latter when she signed on as Mabel in the new York Shakespeare Festival production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penance” and was showered with rave reviews. She even headlined the Las Cruces Mariachi Conference a few years ago. On February 15th, 1975 one of her songs reach number one in America and it’s today’s 101 Number one Song of the Day for Linda Ronstadt – “You’re No Good.”
