The 101 number one song of the day was the result of some good advice from Dick Clark to a group once known as the Juvenairs.  They recorded a song about the latest dance craze that was happening on American Bandstand. The dance was called the Bop and they played the record for Dick and asked him if he would play it on the show. Clark liked the song but told the guys that the dance was on the way out and perhaps they should go back and do a re-write and re-record. He even suggested how the modification. And the result became the number one song in America on January 6, 1958 and that’s how “Do the Bop” became “At the Hop” for the renamed Danny and the Juniors.

Listen for the replay and win tickets “Broadway Rocks” with Lonnie Klein and the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra.
