Dukes of Hazzard Day

The popular TV series premiered on this date in 1979, starring John Schneider and Tom Wopat as Bo and Luke and Catharine Bach as Cousin Daisy. Denver Pyle was Uncle Jesse.

1984: This singer was hospitalized with scalp burns after a spark ignited his hair during filming of a Pepsi TV commercial. It was, of course, Michael Jackson.

was the second number one hit for a guy born in the middle of a London air raid. As a child he was often sick, spending at least three years in the hospital. Then his stepdad gave him a set of drums for Christmas and it changed his life.  His first musical group was the Eddie Clayton Skiffle Band. Later he joined Rory Storm and the Hurricanes which became the houseband at a club in Hamburg where he would meet his future bandmates. Later, when that group broke up he went out on his own and on January 26th 1974 he notched his second number one song as a solo act and it is today’s 101 number one song of the day for Ringo Starr – a cover of Johnny Burnette’s top ten song of 1960 – You’re Sixteen

Paul McCartney played the Kazoo on the original studio version.

And you’ve probably heard about the solar storm that has rained radiation on the earth wreaking havoc with some communication devices mostly in the northern hemisphere.  But that’s where the northern lights have put on some spectacular shows as a result -
