Not his way -
nor his way -
not even his way -
even though it is his song. It should be Your Way - a day to determine your own identity all by yourself.
History 101: The US presidential election of 1800 was finally settled in the House of Representatives on February 17, 1801, when the electoral tie was broken between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr -- Jefferson became president, and Burr, vice president.
Music History 101: February 17, 1966: Brian Wilson began recording a single which he wouldn’t finish for another six months: Good Vibrations.
The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by a guy who once sang with a group called the Gaytones. But he was a member of another group when he recorded today’s song and that caused a problem. His name was Eugene Dixon and the latter group to which he belonged was called the Dukays who were signed to Nat Records. He’d written a song which the label didn’t like but an A & R man from another label heard it and thought it would be a big hit, they hit a snag. He was under contract – as a member of a group but not as an individual. So he decided to go out on his own and the rejected song became number one on February 17, 1962 for the now renamed: Gene Chandler (Duke of Earl)
