Ah, no. Get together with friends and ham it up for the cameras.
The 101 number one song of the day was the ninth to go to number one for a super-group who had only one chart topper in England. Although the song you’re about to hear did eventually get to the top in Great Britain but it took someone else to get it there. It came out of the Motown as so many before it had. Despite a rocky start, once this group got going they cranked out a huge number of top ten songs but never had quite the same success across the pond. But today’s featured song did eventually reach the top of the British Charts after it was taken there by Phil Collins in 1983. However, on September 10, 1966 it was number one in America – for the Supremes (You Can’t Hurry Love)

The 101 Gold Nugget of Knowledge: A Philadelphia church has been told its bell is too loud and could lead to a $700 daily fine if it continues to violate the city’s noise ordinance. St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church received a letter from the city of for air and noise pollution, saying the bell cannot ring louder than “5 decibels above background level measured at the property boundary of the nearest occupied residential property.” The letter follows an anonymous phone call the 179-year-old church received from a woman who said she lived a block away and that the bell was “disrupting her quality of life.” The bell was installed as part of a clock tower in 1906, long before the city’s 2006 noise ordinance was passed. The pastor of St. John’s said unless city or church officials say otherwise, the bell will keep ringing. “A bell’s a bell – it either rings or it doesn’t,” Rev. James A. Lyons said.
This is one of those videos that have gone viral – Phil Davison was hoping to get his party’s nomination for County Treasurer and gave an impassioned speech which did not get the desired result. Watch and wonder why he didn’t get the nod -
Romanian lawmakers have been in fear after they rejected a proposal to tax witches and fortunetellers. The mess started after two lawmakers drafted a law where witches and fortunetellers would have to produce receipts, and would also be held liable for wrong predictions, a measure which was part of the government’s drive to increase revenue. The proposal was voted down on Tuesday. However, one of the two who proposed the law said the government would be cursed.
Police in Missouri said a 64-year-old woman who discovered a naked intruder in her home dragged him out of the house by his beard. The Kansas City woman woke up at about 1 a.m. Tuesday to find neighbor Laurence Saunders naked and standing over her. She told police Saunders grabbed her arm and told her he was “just being friendly.” The woman grabbed the man by his beard and dragged him to the front door, where he allegedly grabbed her by the throat. She then hit him on the head three times with a tape measure. The woman found the man’s shorts inside her home and threw them to him while he was sitting on her porch crying. Saunders, who police said had been drinking prior to the incident, was charged with burglary, sexual misconduct and two counts of assault. Judging by his picture (below) she had a lot to grab a hold of.
Donald Trump has offered to buy out a major investor’s stake in the area where the so-called Ground Zero mosque is planned to be built. Trump reportedly offered Hisham Elzanaty 25% more than what he paid. “I am making this offer as a resident of New York and citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it’s not), but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse,” Trump said yesterday. Trump also said that as part of the deal, the backers of the mosque project would need to promise that any new mosque they constructed would be at least five blocks farther away from Ground Zero. Trump’s offer was declined. Elzanaty’s lawyer called it “just a cheap attempt to get publicity and get in the limelight.”
