Can we handle it?

Can you handle this?
The annual Running of the Bulls began today in Pamplona, Spain, held every year on the Festival of San Fermin. At Pamplona, Saint Fermin; is now sometimes said to have met his end by being dragged through the streets of Iruña-Pamplona by bulls, a fate more commonly attributed to his mentor, Saturnin. Whatever the real truth is, they seem to enjoy this sort of thing there. As far as big festivals in Spain, we’d prefer La Tomatina which is a giant food fight with overripe tomatoes but that’s not until August. Compare these two pictures (above and below) She seems to be enjoying herself way more than he is. Don’t you think?
The 101 number one song of the day was based on an unfounded rumor that gained so much steam it became a reality. Today’s featured artist had an affinity for collecting cars but somehow word got out that he collected a certain type of stuffed animal. As a result, people from all over the world started sending them to him to add to the non-existent collection. In no time at all, he had thousands of them so the rumor became a reality. It inspired a couple of songwriters from Philadelphia to write a song about it, which he sang in movie he was starring in about a truck driver who became a rock and roll singer. The movie was called Lovin’ You and the title track was the flip side of today’s 101 number one song of the day. The year was 1957 and the singer was Elvis and the song that was number on this day that year- Teddy Bear.
Here’s the story behind the 101 Gold Nugget of Knowledge: Efforts to save the mullet hairstyle are under way in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium lowered their price of admission on Monday to those sporting a mullet. The promotion kicked off a week of discount gimmicks at the zoo. A tie-dye shirt will get you in the zoo for $5 on Thursday. On Friday, the zoo’s Facebook friends can get in for $5. Here’s a picture of a guy with a mullet AND a speedo. Super cool!

Volunteer firefighters in a Canadian town found themselves in hot water for quenching their thirst with beer they rescued from a fire they extinguished. The entire fire department in Oliver, British Columbia – more than 30 members – were suspended for two weeks after it was determined they drank at least one of the six beer kegs they removed from a burning hotel in May. The suspensions will be staggered so the town isn’t left without fire protection.
A Russian man has made the headlines - by teaching his dog to scuba dive in a specially built wetsuit. Sergei Gorbunov, a professional diver in Vladivostok, had a diving suit complete with helmet made for his pet dachshund Boniface. In a recent demonstration, Boniface barked eagerly as Mr Gorbunov readied the equipment and fitted the suit on him. Once underwater, he seemed to have a different outlook, emitting some high-pitched whines. But Mr Gobunov insisted: "Underwater, I don't think he experiences any stress." Yeah, easy for him to say.
