Can you remember your favorite teacher? How about a teacher or teachers who have been particularly instrumental in the lives of your children?
It’s also National Skin Self Examination Day. We love the sun and the vitamin D that we get from it is great. But too much sun is another thing altogether. Here’s a website that might be helpful: http://www.skincancer.org/
The 101 number one song of the day was on the charts once before – in 1960 - when it peaked at number seven but by the time it reached number one for a different performer it had a different title too. The song was written by three men – each of whom had recording success as individuals. Curtis Mayfield, founding member of the Impressions, scored two singles from the Superfly Soundtrack. Clarence Carter was known for Slip Away and Patches and Jerry Butler – known as the “Iceman” had 34 chart singles including the song “He Will Break Your Heart” which was covered in 1975 by a group that, by this time, had a new TV show– and a new title for the song – it’s your 101 number one song of the Day for Tony Orlando and Dawn “He Don’t Love You Like I Love You.”
Here’s good news…Finding Jobs Getting Easier
Laid-off workers are finding it easier to get a new job, a survey by CareerBuilder indicates. The survey found 51% of workers laid off in the first quarter had found full- or part-time employment, compared with 44% in a similar survey taken last November, and nearly 40% said they were able to negotiate comparable or higher salaries in their new positions while 61% took pay cuts. The survey also found 57% of workers laid off in the past six months were called back by their employers and 71% of those who hadn’t found new jobs said they’d be willing to return to their former positions. On the same subject, don’t forget the Spring Employment Expo with 101 Gold and Bravo Mic Communications May 11th from 10-5 at the Days Inn on Avenida De Mesilla in Las Cruces.
They held another gender equality march in Maine over the weekend. That’s what they call it when women march topless. They said they had two reasons to march through the streets with no shirts on. First – to remind women that it’s legal in Maine to be topless in public. And secondly…to combat the double standard of how people react to a topless woman.
-Later – a 4.5 earthquake hit Augusta!!!
We’re fast approaching summer, and according to the Travel Industry – Americans are ready to vacation again! After a couple years of staying close to home – a new poll says 67% of us plan to spend at least $1,000 on vacation this year. And 55% of us say we hope to take more than one vacation this year.
When we go on vacation…we can spend a thousand dollars…just on Margaritas…
