The 101 number one song of the day was one of the earliest compositions written by songwriting legends Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller although it took a few years for it to get going…but once it did, it seemed like everyone wanted to record it. Little Richard did a version and so did Hank Ballard who wrote the Twist. Later, the Beatles did a cover which they included on the British album, “Beatles for Sale” The song was written in 1952 but the year it really took off was 1959 when there were no fewer than six different released almost simultaneously. But by far, the most successful of the releases arrived at number one on this day of that year and it was recorded by Wilbert Harrison – Kansas City

We talked this morning about privacy on the web. But if you post something personal about yourself on the web, it’s no longer private. Now there is a new site which is exposing embarrassing and potentially job-threatening Facebook messages posted by users who probably don’t realize their privacy settings are turned off. There are posts with people admitting playing hooky from work and others making fun of their bosses. Other posts talk about cheating on tests – and cheating in relationships. Some are very personal nature, falling into the category of too much information. The founders of FacebookSearch say they hope to show naive Facebook users that there are real consequences to not guarding their privacy online. The site lists users who have their profiles and status updates open to the public. Anyone could search for the users by name and read everything they’ve posted. Here it is: http://willmoffat.github.com/FacebookSearch

When you think life will hand you lemons – prepare to make lemonade. A company with a doomsday plan is taking money for what it promises will be a comfortable, nuke-proof bunker under the Mojave Desert, with an atrium, gym and jail, and sloppy joes and pearl potatoes on the menu. Robert Vicino, who runs the Del Mar-based company called Vivos, has collected deposits on half the 132 spaces planned in the 13,000-square foot bunker in Barstow. The facility is among several popping up across the country as fears of doomsday have been fueled by strong earthquakes, terrorisms and predictions of the world’s end in 2012 when the ancient Mayan calendar is said to end. In Barstow, $50,000 will get a bunk in a four-person room. Vicino is still taking reservations: $5,000 for adults and $2,500 for kids. Pets are free. Have a look:

Now this really is the luckiest guy alive. A guy in Croatia has escaped death seven times. He’s been in various car crashes and plane accidents and emerged untouched while others died. He was once ever thrown out of a plane when it was taking off…but landed in a hay pile.

So fifty years after all the accidents started – he decided to buy a lottery ticket on his wedding day. Yep – he won over a million dollars.  -Forget the rabbit’s foot….I want this guy’s foot when he dies.

Police are investigating a ghoulish problem in Naples, Italy. They believe local pizza parlors in the town are baking their pizzas in ovens fired up with coffin wood. Seems like somebody’s digging up coffins and selling the wood to the pizzeria owners to save money on wood.

Miss USA is Rima Fakih from Michigan. She’s the first Arab-American to ever win the title – and unfortunately there’s already a controversy brewing. A radio station in Detroit (WKQI 95.5 where Mike worked back in the 90s) has a tape of the future Miss USA winning a stripping contest at a local strip club. The video shows her working the pole down to her underwear. And she won, too. One of her prizes was her own pole!

Of course…the way Donald Trump is running the pageant…they’re probably going to compete next year in pole dancing anyway.
