That’s NOT the question but there will be a question on Swap or Stop at 4:15 about the Bard because Shakespeare’s birthday is today – April 23rd, 1564.
There’ll also be a question about this man:
Today is National Pie Day. National Dance Week begins today and continues through May 2nd.
The 101 Number One Song of the day made a spectacular debut on Hot 100 at Number Six – the highest entry of all time and rarely was there a song which more fittingly spoke to the recording group’s many fans. News of their break-up made headlines right be their song reached the top. One of the group’s members already had his own single on the chart. One could look back on their evolution from a local club band to the most famous musicians in the world. They were four individuals who had matured personally and professionally to a point where the dissolution of the group was inevitable. It was time for each of them to control his own destiny and to make his own music. No matter how much the rest of the world wanted them to remain together, it was time to – “Let It Be” – the number one song on April 23rd, 1970 and today’s 101 number one song of the day – The Beatles.
Other Stuff:
Food prices went up last month at the highest rate in 26 years! Analysts say there are a lot of different reasons. First, gas prices are going up again…so it costs more to get the food to market. And then a terrible winter in Florida ruined a lot of crops. And they say the fact that the economy is beginning to recover has retailers thinking they can start raising prices again. Here we go again….food prices are skyrocketing…gasoline’s going to three bucks a gallon…and we’re going to hear there’s no inflation. Because the Consumer Price Index doesn’t include food and fuel. Which makes sense…because who buys food and fuel…???
Here’s one for Earth Day yesterday. A new book asks ‘how green is your love life?’ The author says you can take steps to save the planet when you’re stepping out with your significant other. For example, she says forget the car and go biking or hiking on your next date. For dinners out, select restaurants that use organic, locally-produced food. And she says you can wear sexy underwear made from environmentally-friendly bamboo. We don’t know if that’ll turn your husband or boyfriend on…but you’ll have Pandas lined up for a date.
Police in rural Indiana were searching for a man wanted on drug charges…and followed him to a local farm. They found him – hiding. Actually – he was neck deep in a liquid manure pond. He became combative and they had to Taser her twice to get him out of the pit. He was later treated for hypothermia at the local hospital. His name – Thomas Hovis, Jr. Here’s the loser’s mug shot after he was cleaned up a bit.
-And you know what we’re thinking? Our week wasn’t that bad after all!!
