C’mon! Get with the program. It’s time to get up gloriously, gratefully, and gleefully, today and every day.
That’s the ticket!
As long as we’re on the subject, you just HAVE to watch this:
Today is also National Best Friends Day.
History 101: 1926: Babe Ruth blasted a home run over the right-field roof of Tiger Stadium in Detroit. The ball landed on Plum Street and rolled on the pavement, stopping 850 feet from home plate. No home run ball ever traveled farther.
Music History 101: on June 8th, 1963, a group of marines from Camp LaJeune released a song inspired by a teletype machine…it became a big hit…they named their group “The Essex” (Easier Said than Done)
In the first six months of 1964 only one American group had a number one song in the U.S. As to which group that was – the answer might surprise you.
They were three black women who were discovered by the famed production and writing team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. They came across a song that was written for the Ronettes by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. Leiber and Stoller wanted to have their new trio record the song but Phil Spector objected to the idea. No matter – they went ahead with their plan anyway and it became a huge hit – sitting atop the American charts on June 8, 1964 for the – Dixie Cups (Chapel of Love)
