Music history 101: 1988: Chinese radio began playing western pop music for the first time, ranging from Glenn Miller to Madonna. But one song that was banned for being disrespectful to the subject of the song – Beethoven was this: Roll over Beethoven.

101 Number One Song of the Day was recorded by a man who was a hit making machine but his good luck was about to change (more about that in moments) The song you’re about to hear was his 16th number one song and he was the only artist aside from the Beatles to top the charts for seven consecutive years. But it would be his last number one song for the next seven years. The hits wouldn’t stop altogether but they were beginning to taper off and soon a new release from him was no longer the big event it used to be. But on April 19, 1962 it was number one and a pretty big deal although it was somewhat ironic that his charmed life began to go through a dry spell after the success of a song with the name – Good Luck Charm – Here’s Elvis.
