a time to celebrate the humor of life's uncomfortable situations.
…or maybe not?
Speaking of which, we had this story this morning about a woman who actually was pregnant but didn’t know it. A 35-year-old British mother-of-two who had no idea that she was pregnant with her third child delivered a healthy 9-pound baby boy after going to the hospital with a severe stomachache. Lesley Nicholl said she was amazed when she was told she was carrying a baby who was already a few days overdue. Hours later, she gave birth via cesarean section at Homerton Hospital, in East London. Nicholl said she had scans and tests at the hospital to figure out what was wrong – but she was still in major pain. “Eventually they discovered there was this baby inside me, right up against my rib cage,” she said. Nicholl and her son, Nicholas, are both recovering and doing well.
This week’s featured adoptable pet from the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is a six month old gray cat called Shadow.

History 101: March 18, 1850: Henry Wells and William Fargo formed America’s first stagecoach freight line.
And what did they call their new business? They called it the American Express,
but later changed the name to Wells-Fargo.
1960: Two brothers from Kentucky recorded a song which would become their fifth million selling single. The Everly Brothers recorded "Cathy’s Clown."
101 Number One Song of the Day: was recorded by a rock and roll superstar whose name is as recognizable today as it was then. Yet it was his ONLY solo effort to crack the top 30. Over the years he was in bands with some of rock and roll’s other more recognizable names such as Rick James – ever hear of the Mynah Birds? Not too many have but everyone knows the B-Y-R-D Byrds and he eventually hooked up with one of their well known names. Before that, he formed a band with Stephen Stills which became Buffalo Springfield. After that Stills got together with ex-Hollie, Graham Nash and the aforementioned Byrd, David Crosby. Eventually, they convinced their friend to make it a foursome. When they went their separate ways, today’s featured artist pursued his desire to work alone and on March 18, 1972 one of his solo efforts was the number one song in America. It was the only time he penetrated the top 40 on his own. Here’s Neil Young, with “Heart of Gold” - today’s 101 number One song of the Day.
Other Stuff:
The Director of a Wellness Center in Colorado has identified five fattening situations where we’re most likely to lose control and gain weight. He says by being vigilant in these situations – we can resist the urge to splurge and stay at a healthy weight. The five situations are- on vacation, after a break-up, at a party with great food, watching TV and at a buffet restaurant…or a restaurant with huge portions.
-Okay – We’re going to say six…he obviously missed Girl Scout Cookie season.
An Amish man in Ashland, Ohio has been ticketed for drag racing…in a horse and buggy. The man was allegedly racing another man Sunday morning on the way to church…and when the two buggies got side by side on the road, the man’s buggy crossed the center line and sideswiped a car going in the other direction.
Bachelor Brad Womack and his pick, Emily Maynard say they want to spend time out of the spotlight to work on their relationship. They say they’re madly in love after a few bumpy months after the taping of the show – and they hope everybody respects their privacy so they can begin their off-screen lives together.
Hey, if you want privacy…maybe you shouldn’t date fifteen women in a hot tub…on national TV…
