National Nutty Pecan Day

Pecan-nuts-on-tree

Soon the pecan harvest will begin in Dona Ana County and growers are looking forward to it – more than ever.  Not only is it expected to be big in numbers, prices are expected to be higher than usual.  This is especially great news after several years of disappointing results.

The 101 number one song of the day was the end of a record run of 17 number one songs which topped the charts a total of 79 weeks.  It was unsurpassed by any other artist and it ran between 1956 and 1969. One of the back up singers on the record is Ronnie Milsap and recorded in Memphis Tennessee which was a kind of a homecoming – marking the first time he was in the studio in that town since the fifties. It entered the Billboard hot 100 at number 77 and on November 1, 1969 it reached number one – the 17th and final number one for the king of rock and roll – Elvis “Suspicious Minds”
