The group that took it to the top of the American Charts had been signed to Private Stock Records with the great enthusiasm of the label’s major stock holder, former lead singer of the Four Seasons, Frankie Valli. As for the University of Alabama, their football team adopted it as their theme song and played the heck out of it every time the Crimson Tide played a game. The song reached number one on January 31st, 1981 for Blondie – “The Tide is High.”
