58 years ago today, the first "Playboy" magazine was published -- it featured Marilyn Monroe and sold seventy-thousand copies in the first few days on the stands.

Look closely and you’ll notice there was no date on the cover.  Hugh Hefner wasn’t sure if there’d be another issue.

Music history 101: 10 years ago today this former Beatle lost his battle with cancer and died at age fifty-eight in Los Angeles - It was George Harrison.

The 101 number one song of the day generated over 150 cover versions and the writer’s personal favorite was done by James Brown. It was one of those rare two sided charttoppers.

 

The writer said, “In my mind, I heard Ray Charles singing it and Charles actually did do a version of it several years later. Smokey Robinson also did a cover of it. But the most successful version was done by the group that the writer himself belonged to and it was that version that rose to number one on November 29th, 1969 – The other side was “Come Together” written by John Lennon but this was written by George Harrison “Something.”
