National Gibberish Day

gibberish1

We’ve been accused of making every day gibberish day.

But read on for some helpful, interesting, non-gibberish.

It’s also Create Your Own Junk Food day.

BTW, Wendy’s - the hamburger chain just completed their secret ‘Project Gold Hamburger’. The end result, they say is a totally new hamburger. The new ‘Dave’s Hot & Juicy’ has a thicker beef patty, red onions and crinkled pickles on a buttered bun. They tested and retested the new formula over two years – even consulting a pickle chemist to determine the difference in straight versus crinkled pickles. The new ‘Dave’s Hot & Juicy’ rolls out this week.

on the same day in 1973: A Thirty year old singer and songwriter was killed in an airplane crash on this night 37 years ago on his way to a concert in Sherman, Texas. His next concert was to be here in Las Cruces.  It was Jim Croce.

The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by a young Fargo, ND guitarist named Robert Velline who more than anyone else had his life changed the “Day the Music Died”

When he was 15, he woke up one morning looking forward to his first rock and roll show ever. That night he would see some of the greatest rock stars in the world: Dion and the Belmonts, the Big Bopper, Richie Valens and his idol Buddy Holly. By noon of that day he heard the terrible news of the plane crash that took the lives of three of those beloved musicians. The local radio station put out a call for replacements and Robert volunteered his newly formed group. They were put on bill and became a hit. That lead to a recording contract and his life took a turn that Hollywood movies are made of. And on September 20th 1961 Robert – by this time a star in his own right – had the number one song in America – with a shortened version of his name – Bobby Vee – “Take Good Care of My Baby” (written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King)
