Mmmm! Good!
It’s also Cubbyhole Appreciation Day.
We think most appreciate the former rather than the latter.
Most of us appreciate a loving pet and there are lots of them at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley including today’s visitor on Your Morning Show. Meet Cabo -
She’s a Chihuahua mix and is about 13 months old. ASCMV opens today (and every day) at Noon and is on Bataan Memorial just off Highway 70.
The 101 number one song of the day was recorded by the very first artist signed by the Beatles’ Apple Records and he happened to be an American. He’d go on to have a huge career but this was his only number one hit. The song was written by Carole King who said that “It was one of those moments when I sat down at the piano and it wrote itself from some place other than me.” She was the opening act in the spring of 1971 for today’s artist who by this time had left England and Apple records but he was still working with the man who had signed him to Apple – Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon became his producer. Carole was just beginning to ride the incredible wave of success brought on by her recording of the Tapestry Album and just two weeks before this song arrived at Number one on the 30th of July, 1971 she was on top with her double sided hit “It’s Too Late” and “I feel the Earth Move.” Now it was her friend’s turn with a song that was also on the Tapestry LP. And it would be the only number one song - for James Taylor (You’ve Got a Friend)

Space scientists have recalculated some bad news for us earthlings. Since 1999 they’ve been tracking a third-of-a-mile-wide asteroid heading in our direction. They initially calculated the rocks chance of smashing into earth as one in several hundred thousand. The new numbers say it’s more like one in a thousand. And the asteroid is big enough to cause massive destruction for hundreds of miles. The good news – the asteroid won’t pass – or hit – earth until 2182…so scientists have 172 years to figure out how to deal with it.
-Which…we think everybody understands how this works…gives them 171 and a half years…to put it off.
