Today is Administrative Professionals Day

Administrative_Professionals_Day-2

It’s also Big Words Day, a day to use huge words on purpose just to impress yourself. Go on, you can do it.

Here are some to start with: Ameliorate, agglutination, abnegation.

101 Number One Song of the Day was recorded by a group about to disband. They were going to give it one more try in the studio and then go their separate ways. What happened next turned their careers around and left America with a symbol that is as popular today than it was then. (It’s coming up next) The song was inspired by a true story about a man returning home from prison. When the demo was played for the group, two of the three singers thought it had hit written all over it but the third thought it was pretty corny. However, he couldn’t get the song out of his head and pretty soon, his opinion changed. They recorded the song and instead of disbanding they ended up getting a network TV show. Plus America got a lasting symbol of homecoming.  As a service we have provided you this image for COMPING purposes ONLY.

Other Stuff:

A new study by PEW Research says one in three teenagers sends over 100 text messages a day!! Texting has become the preferred method of communication for teens. They found 75% of 12 to 17 year olds have their own cell phones – and half of them send at least 50 texts a day.

-Okay – here’s our idea. It’s a voice-recognition system to make texting easier. When you speak into the phone…the system converts your spoken words into text and sends it. Then the person who receives the text…their phone takes the text message and converts it into speech. We call it ‘text-voice recognition’. Hey, why not just call?

A research study out of New York shows some tanning bed enthusiasts are addicted to the process. They say a small number of indoor tanners show classic signs of substance-related disorder. They get hooked on tanning just like they’d become dependent on drugs or alcohol.

We don’t trust those things… they look like giant Easy Bake Ovens – for humans!

Your kids’ school lunch…is a national security threat. How’s that? That’s the claim from a group of retired military officers. They say fattening, unhealthy school lunches produce fat, unhealthy kids. And that leads to a smaller recruitment pool for the military. The officer’s group, called ‘Mission Readiness’ is pushing for a federal law that would make school lunches healthier. We guess now we have to round up terrorists…and ‘lunch ladies’.

We do know that Lunch Ladies work very hard and it’s government guidelines that set the tone.

Apple announced a three-billion dollar profit for their first quarter. And that was on iPhone sales…before the iPad was even introduced. The news sent Apple stock up to an all-time high. We were thinking…maybe Steve Jobs should run the world. But that’s silly – he already does!!

BTW, Apple has a new iPhone coming out…but somebody stole the prototype and showed it to the media. The company got the new phone back…and gave no word about when it would be introduced. They just made a three-billion dollar profit on the old phone!! These guys are like technology crack dealers.
