The 101 number one song of the day comes from the band whose name became synonymous with Southern California country rock. And it all started with Linda Ronstadt. Each of the founding members had emigrated there from other parts of the country and each had experience playing in such bands as Poco, Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band and the Stone Poneys where Linda had gotten her start. She was preparing for a tour and needed backup. Her then manager, John Boylan recruited three of the eventual four members for the job but they were short a drummer. 101 Gold Nugget of Knowledge: In England, dog lovers will be forced to pass a test before they can own any dog under a planned clampdown on dangerous animals.   They will face a competency exam to prove they can control their animals, including harmless breeds like Yorkshire terriers. Microchips must also be inserted under the dogs' skin, while owners will have to buy third-party insurance in case their pet attacks a human or another animal. An elephant hired for a Hindu wedding in India caused over $375,000 in damage after trying to reach an in-heat female. The turned-on mammal crushed 20 limos trying to get to the female in a nearby sugar cane field in the Indian capital New Delhi. He then mounted and attempted to mate with a truck, and smashed through a shopping mall in a 15-hour rampage. Wildlife experts managed to finally bring him down with a tranquillizer gun to end the elephant's chaotic adventure. One expert said: "It is a very powerful urge." You got that right!
