It’s Friday!!!

Today is Girl Scout Day. Juliette Gordon Low founded the organization in Savannah, Georgia, on this date in 1912. At first, the groups were called Girl Guides.

This is our last day of ‘Celebrate Your Name Week’. Today is ‘Middle Name Pride Day’. -When we were growing up…a middle name was like a middle finger. It only came out with somebody was really, really mad…usually Mom.

The 101 number one song of the day was the most successful song ever from a group most observers thought had peaked more than a decade before. Between 1962 and 1964 they had loads of hits including four number ones. But this was 1976 and chart success for them seemed a thing of the past. Then came a song, written by one of the group’s former members, about the repeal of prohibition --and soon they were back on top once again-but not before some changes. They added some new choruses and dropped the reference to 1933 and during this week in March, 1976 the song which fast forwarded thirty years became the number one song in America while becoming the group’s ONLY number one in Great Britain – the Four Seasons and “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)”

Home décor experts are expecting a wave of high-tech toilets to sweep the US. Most of the new models are from Japan…and have features like lids that raise and lower automatically, heated seats, built-in bidets and built-in sound effects. Honestly…if there’s one place I don’t need help with sound effects…

FOX News web site has a list of some of the stranger phobias of celebrities. For example, Johnny Depp and Diddy are both scared of clowns. Nicole Kidman is frightened of butterflies; Orlando Bloom is afraid of pigs. Megan Fox doesn’t like touching paper – and said she washes her fingers every time she turns a page on a book. Bill Bob Thornton is afraid of antique. I never told anyone this…but I’m actually afraid….of Billy Bob Thornton.

Followers of a Miami man claiming to practice a traditional African religion say they all became sick…after drinking snail mucus. Part of their religious ceremony included ingesting the mucus of the Giant African snail. But followers say they got violently ill and developed strange lumps in their stomachs. At what point while the guy’s squeegeeing off a Giant African snail aren’t you thinking…’maybe we’ll try Baptist…’?

And thanks to Robin who emailed a story about an actual polar bear attack in Canada. A person nearby snapped pictures as the attack occurred.
